Tena koutou katoa, Last week was a busy week with Junior Syndicate visiting Auckland Museum, Middle Syndicate visiting Cornwall Park and yesterday the Senior Syndicate visiting Awhitu for Orientereering. Our teachers work hard to find learning opportunities outside the classroom that enhance the vocabulary and skills of your child. These are linked to the topics of the term. Prior to a school trip, teachers investigate risk assessment, communications, costs and notify the appropriate people. These trips do not just happen overnight. Kia Ora koutou katoa, We had a fantastic day on Saturday with our Phone Book Fundrasier. Thank you to everyone who helped pack and deliever books. Week 6 Term 1 2015
Last week Years 3- 8 participated in our annual Swimming Sports. I was extremely impressed with the high number of students who participated in events and supported their Whanau. Congratulations to Totara who won both the Spirit Award and the 2015 Swimming Sports. A huge thank you to Mrs Simnor for organising a wonderful day. What an an amazing community you all are. Our very successful gala raised over $27,000. This will be put towards the rebuild of the hall with our Parmco kitchen. It was a brilliant day and I am so proud of all our students and families. A huge thank you to everyone that attended, contributed, helped and supported us in any way. I had the pleasure of attending the Senior Syndicate trip to Chosen Valley last Friday. It was well organized with some amazing personal challenges taking place amongst the students. They were encouraging of each other, facing personal fears and working hard to meet individual goals. Well done Seniors! We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs. Johanna Brown as the Year 7 and 8 teacher in Te Rakau Nui. Mrs. Brown is a beginning teacher who trained at Waikato University. During the application process she stood out to us with her high level of academia. A big thank you to our community, parents, staff and students for a fantastic start to our school year. The atmosphere is positive, full of energy and focused on learning.
