Message from our new Principal
Greetings to the Glenbrook School Community, I am extremely excited and honoured to be appointed the Acting Principal of Glenbrook School for 2015. Glenbrook is an excellent school and I look forward to working with the staff, Board and community to build upon its current strengths and to provide an outstanding and inclusive education for every child who attends Glenbrook School.
As an experienced leader, teacher and proactive learner, I know the opportunities a unique community-centered school like Glenbrook can offer. I have the energy, drive, optimism, and sense of humour to lead you. The values and moral purpose of the Glenbrook School resonate with my own and those I am teaching my daughter Alexandra.
I have a proven track record within our profession with successful teaching and implementing successful programmes. I am up to date with current teaching practices, trends in teaching, learning and assessment.
I am an extremely community focused person. I proactively support our community, school and district. I enjoy being visible and approachable. I value the role our students play in the community and the role our parents have in our schools. You will often see me on the sidelines at sport in the weekends. Positive and honest relationships and partnerships are encouraged.
As a team, communication needs to be shared and transparent. Whakawhanaunatanga or wider family, is central to my perception of education. Curriculum achievement is balanced with preserving the joys of childhood like eeling, music, playing touch and building huts.
The Board, staff and I are working together as a team to ensure that the opportunities and learning environment we provide maximizes the potential of your child. We will address the ERO recommendations, IT needs and we will develop a strategic direction that will further improve Glenbrook School.
It is a privilege to be a school Principal. To assist in shaping the future of New Zealand is extremely rewarding – I love my job and I am sure that this will continue. Although I am a beginning Principal, I know I have the enthusiasm, intellect and genuine care to lead Glenbrook School into a future where thinking, high expectations and optimizing opportunities are part of your child’s toolkit of education.
I look forward to reconnecting with you all as your Principal.
