Week 5 Term 1 2015
What an an amazing community you all are. Our very successful gala raised over $27,000. This will be put towards the rebuild of the hall with our Parmco kitchen. It was a brilliant day and I am so proud of all our students and families. A huge thank you to everyone that attended, contributed, helped and supported us in any way.
In particular I would like to recognise our PTA Committee who worked endless hours to make the Gala the success it was. Stacey Bainbridge, Kathy Clark, Cheyanne Aicken, Rochelle Hyland, Sandra Lelliott, Carl Rushton, Kristine Jones, Carolyn Whittaker-Lahman and Judith McCulloch. We would also like to thank our extra PTA Gala members: Hailey Tong, Suit-Keen Kovati, Gaylene Rogerson-Poto, Mark Weaver, Paula Udy, Leister Udy, Paula McCall and Claire Jewell.
Photos from the gala can be found on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Glenbrook-School and will soon be uploaded on our school website. If you would like to give us feedback about the day please post on our facebook page. This can include what you enjoyed most, what was interesting or something we could improve on for next time with the proposed solution. Your feedback enables us to make the next one even more successful!!
This Wednesday is our Swimming Sports Day for Years 3-8. Students are to wear their Whanau Colours. Points are given to each student that enters a race and the place they come in. There is also a non-competitive section. At the end of the day, time permitting, there is a teacher, student and parent race. Bring your togs and join in on the fun. A sausage sizzle and drinks will be on sale. If you would like to assist please contact Mrs Simnor.
In the next few weeks our years 4-8 will be sitting their e-asttle tests in Reading, Maths and Writing. This is one piece of assessment that informs teachers about the level of learning your child is at. It will contribute towards assisting the teacher and your child in setting learning goals for our Child Centered Conferences.
Again thank you everyone for your hardwork and support or awhitanga for gala. Our next big fundraiser is the phone book deliveries.
Your Principal,
Lysandra Stuart
