Week 8, Term 3 2022

Kia Ora Whanau and welcome to week 8.

I am fortunate to announce that I have been appointed and awarded the position of Waiuku Kahui Ako (Waiuku Community of Schools) Lead Principal. I am excited to be able to work across all of our Waiuku Schools. I would like to thank our Board of Trustees and our talented leadership team for their support. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, Mrs Greenstock will be acting Principal.

Thank you for your support of our staff as they engaged in professional development last week. An extremely important learning opportunity for all involved. We welcome Miss Ceinwyn Cattroll who is a student teacher in Uenuku.

We would also like to thank all our parents who transported and supervised at the V8s. What a fabulous farewell to the V8s at Pukekohe stadium. We congratulate local boy Shane van Gisbergen on a well deserved win!

Our Queen
The Queen’s dedication to public service has been an inspiration to children and adults alike over the past 70 years.  Like so many, we feel privileged and lucky to have lived through the second Elizabethan age, and were saddened to hear of her death.

Through her dignity and unswerving sense of duty, the Queen has set an extraordinary example to us all, and she has been a reassuring presence through many turbulent times. The Queen through her grace and dignity touched the lives of millions and she will live on in our hearts.  We pay tribute to her.  On Monday 26th September, school will be closed as Aotearoa has a one off public holiday.

Book Fair
The Book Fair is  now open. Tuesday 13th September: Book Fair will open for classes to visit during the day and complete their wish list. Parents can pick up their children to visit at 2:20pm. It will be open until 3pm.

Wednesday 14th – Tuesday 20th September it will be open from 8:15-9am, and then 2:20-3pm for parents and students to visit. The library will also be open at lunchtimes for students to visit. The library will be closed for general use for this week and next week. Thank you Mrs Greenstock for organising.

Calf Club Reminders
Calf Club posters will now be due on Tuesday 27th September. Scarecrows and herb gardens are due at 9am on Thursday 29th September. Any arrivals after the due time and date will not be judged. Each family is asked to donate a plate of home baking on Friday 30th September. These will be sold at our cake stall. We are also looking for donations for raffles, grocery items and items for our sweet stall. We desperately need parental help with preparation on Friday 30th September and help on Calf Club day with the stalls. If we do not get volunteer help with the stalls we will need to cancel some stalls. If you are able to assist in anyway please email Lizzie Yorke urgently: pta@glenbrook.school.nz

Our classes are very busy with Calf Club preparations and end of term assessments. We are so excited for Calf Club! We are finalising term 4 event dates and will be sharing those next week. Don’t forget to check your weekly team newsletters so you know what is happening in our classes. Have a lovely week whanau,

Noho ora mai,

Ms Lysandra Stuart
