Kia ora e te whaanau,

Grandparents and Special Persons Week

What an outstanding turnout for our Grandparents and Special Persons visits yesterday! It was fantastic to welcome so many of you into our school and share this special time with our tamariki.

Thank you to all the grandparents and special people who joined us. We loved having you here and appreciate the time you took to be part of our children’s school life. Your visits were a wonderful reminder of the connections that make our Glenbrook community so special and the value we place on community and whanau. Thank you also for your kind and special korero!

Book Week and Book Character Mufti TOMORROW

We have loved all the favourites being shared during Book Week and seeing how much our aakonga and whaanau love a good book! Tomorrow, Friday 6 November, is the last day of our Book Fair, so you can make your final purchases before school from 8am and after school. A reminder that tomorrow is also our book character mufti day. Come dressed as your favourite book character and bring $2. We look forward to seeing your favourite characters come to life!

Sports

Well done to all our aakonga who represented Glenbrook School at tennis this week. We are proud of you and the way you represented our kura. Ka pai to everyone who took part!

It was also lovely to see our touch teams competing at the Waiuku Touch Module on Wednesday evening. Thank you to our coaches and whaanau who support such important opportunities.

No Hat No Play

A reminder that all students need to bring their Glenbrook School hat every day and wear it when outside. Our no hat no play policy is in place, and students without a hat may only play in shade safe areas. Please make sure your child’s hat is clearly named.

Akonui Hui

Our Akonui Hui will be held on Monday 23 November. These parent-teacher-student conferences are an opportunity to reflect on your child’s learning, celebrate their progress and achievements, and discuss their next steps. Akonui Hui will be held in the hall.

School will be closed for lessons on Monday 23 November. Supervision will be available for families who need it. You must book a place if you require supervision before November 19th 3pm. This is to ensure we have safe and adequate staffing.

On Tuesday 24 November, school will be open as usual for normal classes. There will also be Akonui Hui appointments for parents of students in Years 8, 7, 6 and 4.

Please book your conference through the School Interviews website:

www.schoolinterviews.co.nz Please enter the following code:  jzgcp

We look forward to meeting with you and celebrating your child’s year.

Election and Voting Place

A reminder that voting is now open for the New Zealand General Election. Glenbrook School is a voting place, and our hall will be open for voting from 9am this Saturday, 7 November. We hope to see as many of you as possible there, having your say and making your vote count.

5 Weeks to Go!

With just five weeks of school to go, there is still plenty of learning, fun and celebration ahead! Let’s make the most of these final weeks and encourage our tamariki to keep giving their best. Next week we will send out a reminder of all our upcoming events to help whaanau plan ahead. Our last day of school is Friday 11 December, finishing at 12pm, and our first day back for 2027 is Thursday 28 January. Thank you for your continued support. We’re looking forward to a fantastic finish to the year!

Ngaa mihi nui,

Ms Lysandra Stuart
