Week 7, Term 3 2022

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to week 7. Congratulations to all our students who represented Waiuku at Franklin zone day. Glenbrook students did exceptionally well with three students qualifying for the Year 7&8 Auckland inter-zone competition at Muriwai Beach next week and seven students placing in the top ten.

Professional Development Thursday
A reminder that our staff will be engaged in professional development from 12pm this Thursday. We ask that parents please pick up students at 12pm. The school bus will be running from 12pm (There is no afternoon bus run). If you are not able to collect your child, please email the office. Those students will be in the hall with Ms Stuart until 2.30pm.

ITM Supercars V8s
We are so excited to be attending the ITM Supercars V8s this Friday. Thank you to all our parents who are able to transport and supervise on Friday. If your child is not attending on Friday, please email the office so we can allocate the ticket to someone else. Once registers are done, parents and groups will be sent off with their information pack and tickets. Remember, you will need to find a street with free parking which will require a bit of a walk. This is a sold out event and will be super busy. Groups are asked to be back at school by 2pm in time for buses.

Calf Club
This morning it was so lovely to have our Calf Club elders come in and talk to our students, sharing their tips and tricks for preparing for Calf Club. Calf Club is on Saturday 1st October. Registrations are now closed. Posters are due on Monday 26th September at 9am. Scarecrows are due at 9am on Thursday 29th September. Herb gardens are due at 9am on Friday 30th September. Any arrivals after the due time and date will not be judged. Each family is asked to donate a plate of home baking on Friday 30th September. These will be sold at our cake stall. We are also looking for donations for raffles, grocery items and items for our sweet stall. A huge amount of work goes into organising Calf Club and we need to work as a community together to ensure its success. We desperately need parental help with preparation on Friday 30th September and help on Calf Club day with the stalls. If we do not get volunteer help with the stalls we will need to cancel some stalls. If you are able to assist in anyway please email Lizzie Yorke urgently: pta@glenbrook.school.nz

Please, if your child is not participating at Calf Club on the 1st October, can you please email the office and let us know.

Staffing
I want to acknowledge the wonderful and caring work of all our staff. For the last seven weeks we have had high staff absences due to illness, covid, isolation requirements and professional commitments. All our staff have worked above and beyond to ensure our school has stayed open. This has required additional duties, mixing classes and extra responsibilities. Thank you to all our people.

Thank you again to all our parents who attended and supported all our teams at the Auckland Museum. Our last visit was on Monday with our beautiful tamariki in Piwakawaka. The museum noted how well informed all our class were, their impeccable manners and wonderful behaviour. Well done everyone for showing your Glenbrook manaakitanga and mana.

We do post regularly on our school facebook page reminders and photos of what is happening around the school. So remember to check it out! Have a wonderful week whanau,

Noho ora mai,
Ms Lysandra Stuart
