Week 1, Term 1 2023
Kia Ora Parents and Whanau,
What a wonderful first week back it has been. It was so lovely to see so many of you last night at our Meet the Teacher evening. We certainly have a few water babies in our school.
Welcome back everyone and welcome to our new families. We welcome back Miss Rook, who will be working together with Miss Baird in Te Moana.
This week all our classes have been focused on setting up routines, class treaties and getting programmes underway.
Mrs Greenstock our Deputy Principal has been leading Cool School and Peer Mediation with our peer mediators and senior student council this week. Year 6 wet day leaders and purposeful play leaders also completed the training. Thank you to all our leaders who are in these important roles.
A reminder that swimming sports for years 4-8 is on Thursday 16th February. All students in years 4-8 need to wear their Whanau colours to school. No face paint allowed. Students need to wear their togs underneath their clothes to school. They need their water bottles (no fizzy, flavoured drinks are allowed at school), lunch and snacks for the day. All students are expected to participate. Races start at 9.15am. Our back up date is March 2nd should we have to postpone due to weather.
Team newsletters which outline what is being taught in the classes, reminders about up and coming events and celebrations of who is meeting deadlines and completing homework on time begins next week. Homework across the school will begin in week 3.

School Notices- Update
Notices have been sent home for all students for Digital Citizenship, BYOD, Photo permissions, and in team Piwakawaka there is also a trip notice. Please can you check in with your child and then sign and return these notices asap to the school office. Camp Hillary students have been given their packs and all students have had the 2023 Information booklet sent home.
This year we will need all trip notices returned by the due date to ensure your child’s attendance. There are many reminders set for the parent portal by your child’s teachers and also direct reminders are given to your child. Please check regularly with them to help us achieve better EOTC outcomes.
Again it’s fantastic having everyone back. Have a lovely weekend whanau,
Nga manaakitanga, aroha mai, aroha atu
