Week 1, Term 1 2023

Kia Ora Whanau,

Welcome to 2023. Firstly we cannot wait to see all our beautiful tamariki on Tuesday 7th February. For the first week, whanau are able to walk students to class if they wish. From week 2, students will be dropped at the gate and need to walk to class independently. Ms Greenstock and I will assist those students who may need support.

Swimming starts from day 1. Our Meet the Teacher is on Thursday 9th February from 5pm at our school pool.  This is an informal gathering where you can meet our teachers and your children can enjoy a sausage sizzle and a swim in the pool. Year 7s have Technology on Wednesday 8th and need to be at school by 8.40am in school uniform with covered shoes.

As part of the school’s aquatic programme, students are expected to bring named togs (one piece swimsuit for girls only please), rash shirt and towel, in a waterproof bag, to school each day during the swimming season.  If students are unable to swim for medical or health reasons, a note to the class teacher in explanation is expected. Students are not allowed to swim if they have open cuts or school sores.

Glenbrook School Uniform

A reminder school uniforms are purchased online from our supplier Uniform Works  www.uniformworks.co.nz.  You will have the option of getting your uniform couriered to your home or delivered directly to the school for pickup from the office.  School Hats are available online, or from the school office.

School Portal

At Glenbrook School we use our Parent Portal to communicate and share the whole school and class information, your child’s assessment, learning progress, school contributions and attendance. Information can be found on our school website https://glenbrookschoolnz.com/parent-portal/ on how to download the app.  For access please contact the school office where your username / passwords can be issued.

 School Hats and Jumpers

All students must wear a Glenbrook School hat in Terms 1 and 4. These can be purchased from the office or online ($16). Please make sure you name it. There are also a large number of jumpers in the lost property waiting to be claimed. Please remind your child to bring home all their belongings.

2023 Stationery Costs

The stationery cost for 2023 is $95 per child. We have not increased our stationery fees for five years, however unfortunately due to the high increase of rising costs this could no longer be absorbed.

Stationery costs include items for the year such as books, pens, pencils, glue sticks, cellotape, colouring markers, outliner pens, individual books and digital platforms, Education Perfect, STEPsWeb and other digital platforms that Teams use, at home and school. These stationery items are used to make things that come home such as STEAM items. Both digital platforms are heavily subsidised by the school.

The stationery cost can be paid at the school office or online. Just a reminder that at Glenbrook School all stationery items are organised by the school. They do not come home until the end of the school year, nor are they covered. This ensures equity for all of our students. The class teacher will name them ready to start for day one. All you have to do is make the payment!

Years 7 & 8 students have an additional cost for Technology of $75. This is for the Technology programme at View School. The total cost for years 7 & 8 which includes Glenbrook stationery and Technology fees is $170. Please note that stationery payments do not include additional activity and sports costs.

2023 Stationery can be paid anytime from now and is due by Wednesday 8th February 2023. Please contact the office if you need a payment plan.

Payments can be made electronically to:
