Week 2, Term 3 2022
Nau mai, haere mai Whanau,
Sport and EOTC
We are so very proud of all our students who engaged and participated in our 2022 Cross Country. My favourite parts were watching our children cheer others on, show their mana, kindness and perseverance. They never gave up, no matter what was happening. Thank you to all our whanau who came along to cheer and to all our amazing staff. A big thanks to Miss Shuker and Coach Sargent for all their work behind the scenes leading the day.
This week we have four teams representing Glenbrook at the EPOR8 Pukekohe heats. Our year 7&8 teams are competing on Wednesday from 5pm and our years 5&6 teams from 9.30 on Thursday at Pukekohe Intermediate. Thank you Mr Green for coaching our teams.
Last week all our teams sent home notices regarding trips to Auckland Museum. Please return your child’s permission slip as soon as possible. Team Tui will be visiting Auckland museum on Tuesday 16th August, Team Kereru on Thursday 25th August, Team Pouakai on Friday 26th August and Team Piwakawaka on Monday 5th September. Thank you to our leadership team who spent a day in the term break visiting the museum to complete the risk assessments and health and safety plans.
It is countdown to Snow Camp for our year 8 students. Snow Camp is August 15- 19th. An enormous amount of work is put into organising Snow Camp which begins a year in advance. I would like to thank Miss Shuker for her leadership and organisation. A very exciting opportunity for our year 8 students.
On Friday 9th September will be the very last V8s Supercars Students on Track event in Pukekohe. We have requested enough tickets for the whole school and will require a lot of parent supervision, transport and support for students to attend. So please save the date. More information will come out soon.
Staffing
We welcome Mrs Liz Mulholland who is working two days a week as a teacher aide as additional support for some of our learners. We are also looking for volunteers to help with Toe by Toe and reading across the school. If you are able to volunteer, please contact Mrs Thompson.
Assessment
ICAS exams are available for those interested students in years 3-8. Information has already been emailed out. These close at 3pm this Friday. Exam options include: Digital Technologies, Science, English, Mathematics, Writing and Spelling.
Calf Club
Well done to those whanau who have completed their registration forms. A reminder to get your Calf Club entries in. Calf Club is on Saturday 1st October. If your child is not going to be entering Calf Club or attending, please email the office and let us know so we are not following up. We prefer all students to be involved in Calf Club but understand this may be a year where that could be tricky. The last day for Calf Club entries is Friday 26th August 3pm. Those students who turn up to Calf Club without having entered, will not be allowed to compete. Please ensure your child has completed their entry forms and returns them to the School Office.
2023 Enrolments
If you have a five year old or anyone who is in zone, who is due to start at Glenbrook School in 2023 please make sure you have completed and returned an enrolment form this year. This assists us greatly in making staffing and class decisions for 2023.
