Staff Update.

Morena Parents and Whanau,

We are very excited to welcome Mrs Christina Smit. Mrs Smit is a new local to the Glenbrook area and comes to us from The Gardens School. An experienced teacher who is passionate about the education of children. Mrs Smit will be working four days a week, Monday to Thursday in Te Whenua.

We also welcome Miss Sixsmith, who returns part time from maternity leave. Miss Sixsmith will be working two days a week in Term 3. On Wednesdays she will be working across the school and on Fridays she will be in Te Whenua.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Mrs White’s last day with us. We would like to thank Mrs White for being part of our Glenbrook team this term. We wish her the best of luck at Kingsgate School and in her next adventure.

I would like to thank all of our amazing teachers for their incredibly hard work, manaakitanga and aroha this term. Our teachers plan, assess, analyse data, undertake inquiry and meet teacher expectations, then at a moment’s notice they are having to adjust to include additional classes, change their daily planning, cancel items all while ensuring students behaviour and needs are being met or followed up on. They have had to care for their own family members with covid or illness and also manage when students are not 100% at school, knowing that they themselves could become ill again. They are understanding about the national shortage of relievers and yet always offer to help with additional duties and responsibilities when staff are away. The increased external demand on our teachers and on the teaching profession, from those not in the education sector, is immense, and I would like to thank those in our community who respect us and our professional experience, knowing that everything that we can do for your children, we are and we will. It is with your help (whakawhanaungatanga), that we ensure your children’s success.

At Glenbrook School, we have wonderful teachers, incredible teachers! Teachers who work collaboratively and collectively for the good of our school. These beautiful people go above and beyond for the profession and for our school. I see it everyday. I am so proud of every single one of our teachers. If you want excellent educational outcomes for your child, you have excellent teachers. So please join me in thanking our teachers : Mrs Jessica Simons, Mrs Amy Greenstock, Miss Monique Shuker, Miss Lucy Llelliott, Miss Tamsin Burt, Mr Daryl Green, Miss Jessica Matthews, Miss Zoe Allan, Mrs Sue Waitai, Mr Tony Machin, Mrs Dale Machin, Miss Tayla Thorby, Mrs Shirley Jin, Mrs Kara Thorton, Mrs Tina Meredith, Mrs Jude McCulloch, Mrs Hannah White, Mrs Kristy Horton and Mrs Hannah Thompson.

Nga manaakitanga, nga ako,

Ms Lysandra Stuart
