Week 10, Term 2 Newsletter
Week 9 Newsletter
Good Afternoon Parents and Whanau,
It has been so lovely to see our parents (even in our masks) this week during pick up. Our librarians have begun their duties and our student leaders are relishing their roles and responsibilities across the school. Next week we will begin transitioning our environmental leaders to reinstate our recycling programmes and prepare for our Trees for Survival planting.
Thank you to everyone who supported our school and our PTA in the recent hot cross bun fundraiser. A reminder that families only have this week to sign up for the Glenbrook Weetbix TRY challenge. Registration closes on Monday 4th April. Enter online – https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=45300 Our Glenbrook TRY Challenge is on Tuesday 12th April. Information on the TRY challenge will be sent out next week. This will be the first time our whole school will be together. Parents and whanau are able to attend to support our children.
We have two more weeks of cricket and basketball skills sessions across our school. Well done to our students for their engagement and efforts. Our Franklin association is currently in discussions about Franklin sports events for Term 2. Currently these can only go ahead at green level. Canterbury Exams registrations will close May 6th and next week we have the trials for the Literacy Quiz Teams.
Assessments are currently being carried out for all our students. A reminder to parents to check their child’s record via their etap app. A huge thank you to our staff who have been able to get these done whilst also managing multiple classes, staff absences and additional duties. It has certainly been a juggling act.
We have a mufti day next Thursday, April 7th. It is a gold coin donation with all funds being donated to our local RSA. This year there is no school service or town service for ANZAC. However we will be posting our traditional ANZAC slide. Please send in your photos and information if you would like someone who has served in your family, to be remembered. ANZAC poppies can also be purchased at our school office.
We wish Mr Collins the best of luck for his last two weeks with us. We know he is going to be amazing in Australia! Mrs Hannah White is joining our staff on April 11th to transition into Te Whenua.
A reminder that we close at 12pm on Thursday 14th April. Our teachers are owed additional teacher only days and rather than impact our parents with a whole day, we have opted for a half day linked to easter. Term 2 starts back on May 2nd and will finish on Friday 8th July.
Unfortunately we had a break in just after midnight on Friday evening. Thousands of dollars of equipment was stolen. These are all named with Glenbrook School. If anyone has any information, please contact the police. We have shared the footage we have from our cameras.
Again we would like to congratulate all our students who are displaying fantastic self managing and high expectations of themselves by meeting deadlines, handing in their home learning and competing tasks to a high standard. Instilling these Qualities of Learning sets our children up for success.
Have a wonderful week whanau, kia kaha, kia manaakitanga,
