Kia Ora,

My name is Charlotte Buchanan and I have been teaching at Glenbrook for five years. I attended the University of Auckland to complete a Bachelor in Education and more recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice – Digital and Collaborative Learning. I live in Pukekohe with my partner Dan and our very active 16 month old son, Cullen. As a family we enjoy sports, particularly rugby, spending time at the beach and with our whānau.

I believe it is important for students to be well informed citizens by having real-life, authentic learning experiences. We are preparing students for jobs that don’t exist yet! That is why it is important to teach children a range of skills they can use in different situations in preparation for their future. I have a passion for digital learning and technologies, and incorporating this into my classroom practice. I have high, achievable expectations for all my students and encourage them to take risks in order to reach their full potential. While all of this is happening, it is important to have a laugh along the way and be able to not take ourselves too seriously.

I am looking forward to 2020 and being the Team Leader of Team Kereru.
