Welcome
Kia ora koutou katoa, nau mai, haere mai ki te kura o Glenbrook. Welcome back to all our whanau, tamariki and kaiako. We would also like to welcome our new whanau: Gurjot Singh, Rouxné and Gurrard Bothma, Ngaporia Katipa-White, Sanna Schiphorst, Matthew and Marius Huyser.

ANZAC
Thank you to our whanau who took the time to attend our school ANZAC service. Well done to all our classes and to our student leaders for leading. Thank you to all our students who made the effort to represent our school at the Waiuku town service. You were wonderful. Special mentions to our whanau leaders for their roles on the day: Jackson Gordon our flag bearer, Lexi Buckingham and Emily McCulloch our wreath layers, Sienna Kilburn-Griggs and Brydie Blue for leading our school march, and finally Alexandra Stuart-Burton for her excellent delivery of the ode. Well done everyone.

Timetable Changes
Term 2 is the start of our winter timetable. The winter timetable runs through Terms 2 and 3.

The handbell is rung at 8.55am. This is when students go to class to get themselves organised for the day, displaying their self management skills. They will get a drink, go to the bathroom, get any books ready, check daily notices or anything else they need to do. The class roll is done promptly at 9am so lessons can begin.

Please try and help your child by ensuring they are at school on time.

The school pool is now closed. Please return all pool keys to the school office asap.

Clubs
We are very excited that Clubs have started. Miss Allan is leading clubs and our wonderful teachers are offering a range of options. Keep an eye out on our facebook page as we share what our cool akonga are doing. Thank you to the following staff for taking a club: Ms Greenstock- Literary Club, Mr Green- Chess and EPRO8, Miss Thorby, Miss Tapsell and Miss Allan – Jump Jam, Mrs McCartney- Jewellery Making, Mrs McCulloch – Choir, Mrs Jin- Chinese, Mrs Meredith – Hula and Mrs Allan- Enviro.

Uniform Reminders
In Term 2 students do not have to wear sun hats. However the weather can be very unpredictable. We recommend that akonga keep a change of clothes in a plastic bag in their bag and a raincoat. It’s always a good idea to pack their school jumpers even if they start the day warm. As always, please name all items clearly. Students can wear gumboots to school. No muddy or dirty shoes are to be worn in the classrooms.

As the weather becomes a bit colder, students can wear thermals under their uniform top. Please make sure these are black, white or dark blue.

We would like to remind whanau that nail polish or jewellery other earring studs or cultural items is not allowed.

School Lunches and Kai
A great tip for winter warmers is leftovers. As a mum I am a great fan of sending leftovers in a thermos for a warm lunch. Extra snacks is always a good idea.

This term we will be offering external lunch options each fortnight on Wednesdays. This will begin on Wednesday 8th May. You can order kai for your child by going to https://dollarforschools.co.nz/ Create an account. Add the recipient – your child’s name. Order lunch. Every order earns $1 for the school. May 8th option is sushi. We will update the options on our facebook page.

If there are any families who can donate baking, bread, muesli bars, two minute noodles, fruit bars etc for those who forget lunches, or to help some of our beautiful tamariki we would greatly appreciate it.

Please see below for up and coming events. Your child’s Team Leader is also sending out updates, reminders and a snapshot of what is happening in the Team each week. Please note our school calendar on our website is also updated with all our events.
