Week 5, Term 1 2024

Ki ngā whakaeke haumi ‘Ally yourself with those who have already banded together’

Swimming Sports

Well done to all our students who are making the most of the opportunities at our school. We are super proud of all students who had a go at swimming sports last fortnight. We loved and appreciated every student who did their best for their whanau team at  swimming and showing team spirit. Well done to our Whanau leaders for leading our whanau teams and ensuring students where engaged. Congratulations to our students who placed and have been selected to represent our school at Group Day. It is really important that if students are selected for Group Day representations, they show their mana and attend. Good luck to our Team Piwakawaka akonga who have their Splish Splash event this Friday.

Sports and Permission Slips

In the next few weeks we have students being selected for rippa rugby, ultra rippa, orienteering and Sullivans Cup. Thank you Miss Thorby for the large amount of time it takes to lead, manage and organise teams and parents. Please make sure you are regularly checking your child’s permission slips on your etap app. Teachers will no longer be making follow up phone calls due to the time it is taking. Please make sure you complete your forms and if you don’t want your child to attend, then simply tick no.

Singapore Maths: Maths No Problem

This year we have implemented a new mathematics programme across our school. This is the Singapore Maths: Maths No Problem. Our teachers began our journey in 2023 with professional development. Last week our teachers and students were involved in working with our facilitator Alex Laurie. Please read the attached parent information sheet which outlines what is different and ways you could at home. You can also view the information video Singapore Maths: Maths No Problem

Waitangi Falls Unveiling

This week our senior leaders and selected kapa haka students ave the privilege of being involved in an unveiling at Waitangi Falls. This is a significant waahi tapu, a sacred site that holds deep meaning for the Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua iwi. We will also unveil new cultural narrative signage dedicated to sharing its rich history with the wider community. This is supported by Auckland Council and we look forward to sharing the photos with you.

Have a lovely weekend whanau,

Aroha mai, aroha atu
