Week 10 Term 2 2015
We are now at the buiness end of Term 2. Your teachers have worked extremely hard to provide quality teaching and learning programmes for your children. Whilst they do this, they have also been assessing students, writing reports, organising events outside the classroom and reviewing the curriculum. They are an amazing bunch of people who have passion and a belief that they can make a difference to the lives of our children. Thank you Glenbrook teachers and staff. You are integral to the direction and success of our school, and we may never say it enough, but you are appreciated.
On Friday we had a fantastic disco at the Glenbrook Hall. This was my first visit to the hall and what a beautiful old building it is. It was a brilliant turn out from parents, staff, BOT, PTA and students. Thank you to our DJ, Mr Ikitule, whom we have missed, our PTA whanau that helped and in particular our outstanding School Council. The little touches of firewood, horse shoes and decorations all added to the atmosphere. The dancing was pretty special too!!
Last Thursday the Senior Syndicate teachers and I, attended the Pukekohe Science Fair. This is the first year Glenbrook School has entered we featured extremely well. Well done to all our students who made the finals, Noah Bradley, Aria Moore, Angelo Hubers and Jordyn Hobman. We are very proud of your achievements and high level of scientific investigations.
Finally we are excited to announce we will have formal Te Reo Maori lessons for years 1-6. This will be taught by Rheema Jakeman. Lessons will occur every Wednesday. Rheema will also take the lead for Kapa Haka. Te Reo Maori lessons will be available for families to attend after school on Wednesday for 45 minutes. You will need to attend with your child or children. Please email Miss Stuart if you are interested.
Don’t forget we finish school at 2pm next Friday. Have a fabulous weekend everyone, wrap up warm and only one week to go.
Your Principal,
Lysandra Stuart
