Nga mihi ki a koutou,

This week we are very excited to present our new updated website. www.glenbrook.school.nz The teachers and I are working very hard to update the content and share our learning with you. I would llike to acknowledge and thank Tom Driver for his neverending paitence and expertise in helping us all at Glenbrook School launch this. Please take time to have a look and email Miss Stuart any feedback or ideas you may have.

On Saturday we had teachers, teacher aides, PTA and our friends from Akaaka school validate their First Aide certificates. This was led by the NZ Red Cross. Kia Ora to all those that give up family time for an area of professional development that is important for the health and safety of us all.

I have had a few parents contact me over the financial costs of schooling at Glenbrook this term. It can be difficult for families financially, especially if you have more than one child or a single income. We don’t want our children to miss out on opportunities but at times it can be a burden. PLEASE contact Mrs Andrews or myself if you have any concerns or worries. This is completely confidential. We can work out payment plans to assist. Most of our activities on offer at Glenbrook School are subsidised. It is important we can work as a team in all areas of education and if finance is one of those areas, please just call.

Finally I would like to thank my Whanau Leaders and School Councillors for their amazing input into our school. These are very intelligent, well spoken and thoughtful young men and women. I will ask them about the learning in the school, their opinions on Child Centered Conferences and ideas for team building with staff. They often share ideas that incorporate our values of respect, heritage and fun. Student voice is a powerful area of evidence on how well our school is accelerating learning. I am very proud of the calibre of students we have and their mana as leaders. Thank you.

Your Principal,

Lysandra Stuart
