At Glenbrook School we run a year long whaanau competition involving all children.  Whaanau points are allocated for schoolwide events and as part of the classroom management. Every child will be in a whaanau group with their siblings.

Year 8 students are selected by their peers and senior teachers to be Whaanau leaders.  Two Whaanau leaders are selected for each Whaanau.  This is an important leadership role in our school.  The students are provided with a job description. 

The students are selected for their leadership qualities, responsibility, initiative and confidence.  Whaanau leaders are expected to serve our school and our community.

The Whaanau groups are:

Totara (red), Kahikatea (yellow), Taraire (blue) and Puriri (green). Children are encouraged to wear their whaanau colours to school events.
