Additional Learning Support
Every child aged 5–12 who lives within our school zone has the right to attend Glenbrook School. The learning needs and progress of all aakonga are carefully tracked and monitored by our teaching team through our Student Progress Plans (SPPs). Kaiako identify students who may be achieving below expected curriculum levels and provide targeted support through our Student Progress Plans processes to ensure they are well supported.
For students with more significant or complex learning and/or behaviour needs, teachers may develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP). IEPs are used when a child requires personalised goals, additional scaffolding, or support from multiple external agencies. These plans are created in partnership with whaanau and reviewed regularly.
High-quality classroom programmes remain the foundation of success for all students. Targeted teaching, explicit instruction, differentiation, and a deep understanding of how each child learns are central to accelerating progress and supporting engagement, confidence, and wellbeing.
Glenbrook School is supported by a dedicated Learning Support Leader/SENCO, Mrs Suzanne Stowers, who works four days a week. Our Speech-Language Therapist, Mrs Renee Edmonds, provides specialist support for identified students. If whaanau have any concerns regarding learning support, their first point of contact should be their child’s classroom teacher, who will guide next steps through our established processes.
