Week 1, Term 3, Newsletter
Nau mai hoki mai, Welcome back!
Kia ora e te whaanau,
What an exciting term lies ahead! Term 3 is always a special time in our calendar, filled with rich learning, connections, and of course, the much-anticipated Calf Club. We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back and hope your holidays brought rest and joy.
Calf Club Countdown Begins!
Calf Club is Glenbrook School’s signature celebration of rural pride, creativity, and community. Entries are now due, and we expect every student to participate, there’s something for everyone! Please refer to the Calf Club newsletters for categories, dates, and helpful information. If you need support or ideas, don’t hesitate to contact the office or your child’s teacher.
Nau mai, haere mai: Miss Samantha Wilson
A very warm welcome to Miss Samantha Wilson, who joins our teaching team in Te Kauri. We are thrilled to have her on board and know she will quickly become a valued part of our kura whānau.
Hero – New Communication & Reporting System
We’ve officially moved our student management system from eTAP to Hero. Ka rawe to all parents who have downloaded the app and signed in. All communication, including newsletters, notices, and school reports, will now come through Hero. Please ensure your notifications are turned on so you don’t miss a thing!
Attendance & Lateness: Ministry Requirements
As part of a nationwide Ministry of Education requirement, schools are required each Friday to report attendance and lateness more accurately.
If your child is away, please ensure you provide a clear reason. If we don’t receive one, it will be recorded as an “E” – explained but unjustified. Parents will begin to receive regular updates on their child’s attendance and punctuality. This data is also shared with the Ministry. Thank you for your continued support in getting tamariki to school, on time, ready to learn.
Celebrating Speech Success!
We are incredibly proud of our speech champions:
Emmerysn Reatere, who won the Waiuku Speech Competition and Arapeta Tepania, who won the Franklin Speech Finals. Ngaa mihi nunui! Your confidence, clarity, and mana shone through, an outstanding achievement for both of you and our school.
Cross Country: What a Day!
What an incredible Cross Country Day we had!
A huge thank you to our awesome parents and whaanau for your support, it means the world to our tamariki and our kura. Our ākonga truly embodied perseverance, resilience, and our school values as they ran through the mud, laughed in the sunshine, and cheered each other on. It was a powerful reminder that growth happens when we step outside, challenge ourselves, and support one another.
A very special mihi to Miss Burt and Coach Thorby for their exceptional leadership and organisation. Ngā mihi nui for making the day such a memorable success.
A Visit to Pukekohe Intermediate
Our Year 6 students enjoyed a fantastic trip to see High School Musical Junior performed by the talented ākonga at Pukekohe Intermediate. Thank you to our friends there for your warm welcome and wonderful performance, we loved every moment! Thank you Miss Burt and Miss Wilson for leading.
Wishing You a Brilliant Term Ahead
Term 3 is full of possibility, and we’re excited to journey through it with our amazing tamariki, supportive whaanau, and dedicated staff. Let’s continue to learn with heart, lead with purpose, and grow together.
