Dear Parents and Whanau,
If your child is in years 6, 7 or 8 and is interested in doing the William Pike Challenge this year can you please email Ms Stuart your permission for your child to be involved. Payment information is below. William Pike Challenge registrations will be completed in the first weeks of this so we can get our activities underway.

If your child is a Senior Leader such as a student councillor, principal’s assistant, Whanau Leader, or holds another leadership role, we would really love and encourage your child to be involved as part of their leadership programme this year.

What is the William Pike Challenge?
The William Pike Challenge is a structured specialist programme that is run alongside our Glenbrook School programme. It gives students opportunities to develop positive wellbeing and 21st Century skills through X5 outdoor activities, 20 hours community service and 20 passion hours.

Students, teachers and parents can track student progress through each student’s challenge hub. Most outdoors activities will be built into the EOTC programmes we already plan to deliver in 2024 for each team plus a few extra outings. For example when a Team goes for an outdoor hike such as Hunua, students who are part of the William Pike Challenge (WPC) will have that activity listed as a contribution towards their WPC progress.

Community service this hours will include their service to helping others as directed by Ms Stuart or if they are Ako Coach, this will be their hours.

Passion hours will be led by the students. These will be activities that the students will be expected to complete outside of school hours. It could be learning a new instrument, a new sport, an environmental challenge or another passion they have always wanted to do. Throughout the year students will attend sessions where they will be inspired by William’s messages and be celebrated for their achievements. The cost of being involved in WPC is $45.00 per student. This does not include the additional costs associated with each of the activities. Students need to complete the Student Application form and pay their WPC fee no later than Thursday 7th March.
